Sentrycs Scout: Portable C-UAS at SOF Week
Sentrycs prepares a new portable C-UAS system
Sentrycs, part of the Ondas group, is set to introduce Sentrycs Scout, a new portable counter-unmanned aircraft system. The debut will take place at SOF Week, an event known for showcasing tools and technologies used by special operations teams and other tactical users.
The positioning is straightforward: Scout is meant to be a compact option for teams that need mobility, fast deployment, and practical airspace awareness. In that setting, large fixed installations are not always the best answer, which is why demand for smaller C-UAS platforms continues to grow.
A different approach to counter-drone operations
Sentrycs operates in the counter-UAS space and uses what it describes as a protocol manipulation approach. In practical terms, that means influencing a drone through its communications and control logic, rather than relying only on detection or kinetic defeat.
That method is especially relevant where operators want to limit collateral effects. Compared with systems built purely around jamming, protocol-based tools can offer more flexibility depending on the aircraft type, the radio environment, and the threat scenario.
Why the launch matters
Portable C-UAS systems reflect a wider shift in the market. Users are not only looking for stronger systems, but also for solutions that are faster to deploy and easier to move. That matters for:
- special operations units;
- critical infrastructure protection;
- field missions with limited setup time;
- situations where position changes are frequent.
Events like SOF Week often serve as an early test of how such products are received by the professional community. For manufacturers, it is a chance to show not just a product, but also how it fits the operational needs of modern security and defense users.
Mobility is becoming a key requirement
As drones become more common and more accessible, counter-drone technology is being pushed toward new formats. Alongside larger integrated systems, portable platforms are increasingly relevant because they support rapid response in dynamic environments.
Sentrycs Scout fits that direction: compact, tactical, and focused on addressing airborne threats in the field. With drone activity continuing to expand across military and security use cases, demand for solutions like this is unlikely to slow down soon.
